New firmware update released to fix Surface Pro 3 battery issue

Update: Microsoft confirms that today’s update is released to fix Surface Pro 3 battery issue. Here is what Microsoft posted,

An update is now available to correct this battery issue. This update corrects the logic in the firmware component that functions as the “fuel gauge” for the Surface Pro 3 battery so that the actual battery capacity on devices with this particular part is accurately reported. This allows the Surface to once again leverage the maximum charge capacity of the battery.

Once this fix is applied to a Surface Pro 3, the reported full charge capacity will self-correct over the next several charge and discharge cycles. Surface Pro 3 devices that previously experienced the problem can now operate on battery power, and the issue won’t occur on devices that haven’t experienced the issue.

Original Story: Microsoft has released a new System firmware update for Surface Pro 3. There is not changelog released by the company yet. We will update as soon as we get the changelog. We have to see whether this update fixed the Surface Pro 3’s battery life degrading issue.

Microsoft confirms that there is a problem with Surface Pro 3 battery life. The company also said this issue could be fixed with a software update and team is working on it.

Surface Pro 3 users can head over to updates and download the new update.
