Later this month, Samsung will unveil its new Android flagship phones, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. In recent weeks, there have been all sorts of rumors and leaks about the new devices, including their key specifications, and even a purported image of the front of the S7.
Now, a new image has been published by Vietnamese site reviewdao.vn, which it claims is of the rear of the Galaxy S7. The image appears to show the device with a plastic rear panel rather than glass; SamMobile speculates that this may be because the handset shown here is a pre-production prototype. The device will reportedly also have a magnesium alloy frame.
The Vietnamese report refers to various specs that line up with earlier reports, but adds that the Galaxy S7 will also include a high-quality DAC (digital-to-analog converter) component, and that this will be the ESS Sabre 9018 – the same chip used on LG’s V10.
It also notes that the handset’s 12-megapixel camera, featuring a Britecell sensor, will include enhancements for low-light photography, and mentions that the S7 will have a water-resistant body. The absence of a camera ‘hump’ on the device in the photo also lines up with previous reports that it would be removed on this latest addition to the Galaxy S series.
