Twitter Lite app announced for slower internet connection users

Following the footsteps of Facebook lite and Youtube Go, Twitter today announced a lite version of its mobile app. The new Twitter Lite is a web app which takes up less than a megabyte and comes with a further data saver mode that blurs images and videos until they’re tapped.

According to the company, the Lite version can save up to 70 percent on data while loading 30 percent faster. In addition, the web app also features such as push notifications on Android, and if you add it to your phone as a home screen shortcut it’ll appear in the app drawer just like a native app. The app was developed in partnership with Google.

The Twitter Lite app also features regular feed, notifications list, and tabs for search and direct messaging. However, touch response is slower compared to the native iOS app, but overall Twitter Lite is extremely usable.

Twitter Lite is available globally, you can access it by going to mobile.twitter.com.
