Beasts of Bermuda Update Patch Notes – June 26, 2024

A new Beasts of Bermuda update patch notes are released for players. Since the last major update, players have been experiencing multiple issues and bugs Hopefully, today’s Beasts of Bermuda update will address some of these issues and bugs.

 Beasts of Bermuda Patch Notes – June 26, 2024

Palaeophis in Beasts of Bermuda

Mating and Specialization

  • Two Palaeophis of any specialization can breed.
  • Offspring inherit the mother’s specialization.
  • If the father lacks a talent the mother has, the offspring rolls twice for that talent from the mother’s side.

Talents

  • Palaeophis have various talents to enhance their senses, venom, defense, and movement.
  • Each specialization has its own talent tree.
  • Snake Senses provides Keen Senses, ability to sniff venom levels, water, and food on a target.
  • Other talents include Venom Spitter, Defensive Coil, Ready to Run, Snake Blood, Frenzy Fortitude, Venomous, and Lethal Fangs.

Other Details

  • Venom resource is displayed on the Character screen and regenerates while resting.
  • Specialization icon shows next to gender on save screen and Character screen.
  • Palaeophis has a dance emote (requires Beasts of Bermuda soundtrack).
  • Reincarnation keeps the same specialization.
  • Food and water drain rates are similar to Tyrannosaurus Rex.
  • Venom cannot damage creatures with shields (currently only Archelon).
  • Default max group size is 6.
  • Special key toggles between dry and venomous bites.
  • Dry bites deal more damage.
  • Venom is not consumed on missed bites or AI bites in venom mode.
  • Venom damage is reduced below 0.6 growth.
  • Palaeophis respond to tail hits (tail must be far from the head).
  • Regurgitates fish carcasses if diet is fish-heavy.

Skins

  • New skins include Blue Beauty, Keelback, Mangrove, Oxidized, RedHead, RedTail, Viper, Watersnake, Woma, and Tricolor.

Other New Stuff

  • New Titan’s Rise map expansion on the central mountain with caves and water sources.
  • Survival Shrine moved to Titan’s Rise.
  • High elevation ambient sound added.
  • Ocean expanded from Ashen Island to Outlands.
  • New foliage, including radioactive rock that heals but harms comfort.
  • New deity music tracks.
  • New Pachy skin: River Rock.
  • New Pachy materials and detail mask.
  • New Axanthism mutation reduces yellow pigment.

Admin Updates

  • Server mod permission required to search for players by Steam ID.
  • ResurrectPlayer spawns creature at random spawn point.
  • New server config variable to disable leaderboard.

Foliage Placement Tool

  • Added Z offset to eraser and arrow key movement for object placement.
  • Added AI Spawn Inhibitor to disable AI spawning and destroy active AI.
  • Removed collision from some seaweed types.
  • Kapok tree cannot be knocked down.
  • Disabled some pine foliage due to issues.
  • Added new placeable object sets.

Mechanics Changes

  • Capped abandoned eggs per species to prevent server flooding.
  • Malawania no longer aggro Archelon unless larger than 0.55 growth.
  • Increased model growth scaling for all growths above 1.2.
  • Added Near Parents buff for comfort and weather resistance to creatures below 0.7 growth near parents.
  • Option to bless for 30 or 60 minutes at deity shrines.
  • Improved reincarnation to give more reliable inherits.
  • Increased rate of talent point gain on Free Roam.
  • Added two new save slots.
  • Added Leaderboard to Free Roam (can be disabled via server config).
  • Arboreal talent allows laying Arboreal Nests with 3 points invested.
  • New Special 2 keybind toggles venom resource and Elusive ability for Palaeophis.

Quality of Life

  • Option to keep inherits when reincarnating.
  • Improved Pachy walk animation, sprint, charge, and headbutt.
  • Straightened Tyrannosaurus’ walking posture.
  • Improved talent UI to show core and bonus talent points.
  • Lowered volume on some sleep, idle, and roar sounds.
  • Burrow prompt now specifies ability key.
  • Added Playstation controller button toggle and mouse key icons.
  • Lowered sandiness/muddiness height on tall creatures.
  • Reset Mosa’s Powerful Jaw inherits into Adrenaline talent.
  • Added Console Command list to Help Menu.

Balance Changes

  • Clotting talent now increases venom healing rate.
  • All base creatures and Palaeophis specializations have Keen Olfactory for improved scent detection.

Individual Creature Balance Changes

  • Apatosaurus: Takes 35% less venom damage, improved kick hitboxes, increased Neck Sweep damage.
  • Elasmosaurus: Increased max camera zoom distance.
  • Ichthyovenator: Increased base health, bite damage, and claw swipe damage.
  • Mosasaurus (continued): Reduced ability, stamina, and breath cost of Dart. Increased thrash drown damage, converted thrash damage to drown damage only. Replaced Asphyxiation talent with Adrenaline. Added new Archerfish talent that lets Mosasaurus spit water to knock back and damage enemies.
  • Pachycephalosaurus: Increased charge hitbox size and lowered it to hit smaller creatures.
  • Saichania: Increased swimming turn rate.
  • Velociraptor: Swapped positions of Nest Raider and Acrobat talents.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Fixed Wiehenvenator’s identification ability to properly show bleed, injury, and venom levels.
    • Fixed Tendon Tear not to charge twice if holding LMB.
    • Fixed stiffness in Acro swim idle animation.
    • Fixed Apatosaurus No Jewelery Variant’s glow.
    • Fixed Wiehenvenator being unable to apply Tendon Tear to grouped, dueling players.
    • Fixed grab disconnects where grabbed players float around.
    • Fixed incorrect disconnect message upon server initialization failure.
    • Fixed resting cooldown persisting after death, allowing longer-than-intended resting.
    • Fixed music track volume not responding to music slider.
    • Fixed Steam Deck Proton layer for devices with over 16GB of RAM.
    • Fixed various UI click and hover sound issues.
    • Fixed teleporting upon release from grab.
    • Fixed Elasmosaurus head and body movement transitions.
    • Fixed missing Archelon herbivore label and improper main menu closing behavior.
    • Fixed carcass and fat plant spawning issues.
    • Improved HUD element movement for better cursor matching and long-distance movement.
    • Fixed excessively loud loading ambient sounds.
    • Fixed Sai’s taunt sound not broadcasting properly.
    • Fixed Archelon appearing in the Creature Editor’s Herbivore tab.
    • Fixed other minor bugs.
