Chrome 55 will take 50% less memory with upgraded JavaScript engine

Google Chrome is notorious for memory demands on your system. Google is upgrading its V8 javaScrip engine for Chrome 55 to reduce the memory footprint. Many modern websites thrive on JavaScript, the latest upgrade will bring big improvements to Chrome. According to Google, test sites take 50 percent less RAM on average than Chrome 53. Google tested on websites including the New York Times, Reddit and YouTube.

Chrome 55 is currently under testing. Google will release new Chrome update on December 6th for the desktop. If can also test it earlier with developer build. The latest improvements are only limited to memory, this won’t improve performance across the board. You’ll notice the difference if your device has low memory, or if you have many browser tabs open.
