Commandos: Origins update is now rolling out on PC (Steam). According to the official Commandos: Origins patch notes, the latest update added quality of life improvements and gameplay optimizations.
Since the last patch, players are facing a number of problems with the game. Today’s Commandos: Origins patch will fix a few of these issues.

Changes
1) Performance Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Pine trees had a significant performance impact. Maps with many pine trees like Operation Blindfold will now have improved performance.
- Fixed: Big FPS drop in the mission accomplished cutscene of Operation Cleaver.
2) Crash Fixes
- Fixed: A crash related to the frequent use of the Marine’s abilities.
- Fixed: Rare Crash related to using command mode with multiple Commandos.
- Fixed: Several other rare crashes.
3) Achievement Fixes
- Fixed: Achievement “If The World Were A Village” not unlocking because it is not possible to trigger global alarms in Operation Daybreak. Operation Daybreak does no longer count for this achievement.
- Fixed: Achievement “Knock them out with kindness” not unlocking because of the mandatory kill of the enemy sniper in Operation Nightfall. This kill does not count for the achievement anymore.
- Fixed: Achievement “Shadow Tactics” not unlocking after completing Operation Reckoning without raising an alarm.
4) Mission-Specific Fixes
- Fixed: Operation Daybreak (1) – Glitching into an otherwise inaccessible house when carrying an enemy’s body to close to a specific wall and interacting with it.
- Fixed: Operation Daybreak (1) – Enemies sometimes detecting and shooting Commandos through walls in the last part of the mission.
- Fixed: Operation Falchion (2) – Commando and dead body getting teleported outside of a small building when closing door.
- Fixed: Operation Falchion (2) – An issue with the hitbox of a door.
- Fixed: Operation Nightfall (3) – Stationary gun tutorial not displaying button prompts.
- Fixed: Operation Cleaver (4) – Rare crash when triggering the outro cutscene.
- Fixed: Operation Cleaver (4) – A door inside of the supply shipment warehouse that should be a ladder.
- Fixed: Operation Cleaver (4) – A specific soldier could sometimes get stuck after a conversation.
- Fixed: Operation Rapture (5) – A disappearing house floor texture after fully zooming out.
- Fixed: Operation Rapture (5) – Fixed lighthouse lights turning on again after loading when turned off before.
- Fixed: Operation Blindfold (6) – Fixed some textures not loading correctly during Airstrike cutscene.
- Fixed: Operation Magpie (7) – Destroying stationary machine guns with remote explosives not counting as “sabotaged” for the objective.
- Fixed: Operation Trident (8) – Certain zodiac positioning allowing Commandos to jump on a pier that should be inaccessible because of railings.
- Fixed: Operation Aries (9) – Not possible to use Zodiac on some of the wooden piers where you would expect it to be possible.
- Fixed: Operation Aries (9) – One of the pipes sometimes not being interactable, preventing an environmental kill.
- Fixed: Operation Aries (9) – Opened harbor gate rarely displaying holes instead of the correct asset after opening it.
- Fixed: Operation Guardian (13) – “Mission failed” screen getting displayed after mission completed cutscene played if Commandos get spotted and killed in infiltration zone after cutscene started.
- Fixed: Operation Guardian (13) – “Use the Spy to schedule a test firing” task not disappearing when destroying the artillery piece manually, allowing the artillery piece to get destroyed twice.
5) UI/Settings Fixes
- Fixed: Mission Accomplished Screen – Display of wrong Commmandos.
- Fixed: Mission Accomplished Screen – “Completion time” not calculated correctly.
- Fixed: Mission Accomplished Screen – Map statistics not getting tracked correctly.
- Fixed: Settings – Hud Scale option showing more than 100%.
- Fixed: Settings – “Display control hints” not hiding all control hints when set to “off”.
- Fixed: Settings – Portraits looking blurry when VFX graphics option is set to “low”.
- Fixed: Settings – Options for “Display Indicators” being switched around.
6) Additions/Adjustments
- Adjusted: Decreased the size of the displayed version number in the bottom right.
- Added: Added some new enemy grunts.
- [PC only] Added: FPS Limit setting with the default value being set to 60 FPS.
7) Multiplayer Fixes
- Fixed: Multiplayer – The joining player was not able to use pistol.
- Fixed: Multiplayer – Saving while the joining player picks up an enemy could lead to the joining player not being able to pick up the body anymore after loading.
- Fixed: Multiplayer – Lights not always working for the joining player.
- Fixed: Multiplayer – Rare issue where the Zodiac was not always moving for the joining player when the host moves it.
- Fixed: Splitscreen – Fixed a specific combination of inputs leading to the mouse input getting blocked completely.
8) Localization Fixes
- Fixed: Differences between spoken voice lines and displayed subtitles.
- Fixed: Displayed names above Commandos not localized.
- Fixed: Adjusting language not always switching the language of the new game cutscene at first try.
- Fixed: Some subtitles not localized in any other language, always being displayed in English.
- Updated some Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese strings with better translations.
- Japanese localization – Adjusted some text being out of bounds.
9) Platform/Input Specific Fixes
- [Controller] Fixed: Unclear display of available actions when there are multiple actions possible in a small area of the map near a stationary gun.
- [Controller] Fixed: Sometimes unable to enter Zodiac with group selected Commandos.
- [Controller] Fixed: Commando information tooltips getting displayed behind portraits.
10) Other Fixes
- Fixed: Highlight mode not automatically getting toggled off anymore after specified time if “Highlight Mode Manual Toggle” was not set.
- Fixed: Enemies sometimes firing at hiding locations with Commandos in them before searching them first.
- Fixed: Commandos sometimes disappear after loading if saved while entering a vehicle.
- Fixed: AI returning to normal behavior upon loading a save game when they were still agitated when the save was created.
- Fixed: Enemies on different floors sometimes getting displayed as if on the same floor when they are not.
- Fixed: Commandos sometimes starting to float in the air while on poles when saving and loading.
- Fixed: Movement orders sometimes not selecting the shortest way, resulting in unreasonable path choices.
- Fixed: Overhead icons reappearing after cutscene when “Hide Icons” option is set to “on”.
- Fixed: Explosions unable to destroy machine guns.
- Fixed: Movement line getting displayed during cutscene if movement was triggered via command mode at the same time as the start of the cutscene.
- Fixed: A misplaced texture on a stone pedestal in a cutscene in Operation Guardian.
- Fixed: Footprints sometimes being visible to enemies in the striped (far) section of their view cones.
- Fixed: Stationary machine gun sometimes not doing damage to enemies.
- Fixed: Melee attacking from a hiding location sometimes makes the Commando leave the hiding location completely first before engaging the enemy, giving the enemy time to react to the attack when he should have none.
- Fixed: Enemy snipers sometimes calling an alarm just because of seeing footprints, which should not happen.
- Fixed: Sapper’s bear trap getting stuck on metal staircases.
- Fixed: Some shadows cutting off view cones when they should not, leading to view cones with weird gaps.
- Fixed: Commandos pathfinding near stationary guns not always choosing the direct path.
- Fixed: Improved aiming accuracy with a PAK.
- Fixed: Improved aiming accuracy with FLAK 88.
- Fixed: Missing details of the damaged state of stationary guns and some vehicles.
- Fixed: Allied characters having a red dot on the minimap as if they were the enemy.
- Fixed: Mouse cursor misalignment on certain surfaces.
- Fixed: Cleaned up some occurrences of view cones getting displayed where they should not, for example because there are assets in the way, blocking the view.
- Fixed: Some instances where the objective marker would be displayed after the objective was already completed when loading the game.
- Fixed: Enemy clerks sometimes searching a hiding location from too far away instead of walking close to it first.
- Fixed: Rare instances of enemies carrying two rifles.
- Fixed: Controllers falsely vibrating during certain cutscenes.
- Fixed: Commandos sometimes moving on their own after loading when playing with a controller.
