Google today officially announced its Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating systems. Five months ago, Google announced the first details of Android O. Since then, the company has released four Developer Previews.
On Friday, the company had accidentally published a video on Google+ with ‘Android Oreo’ as its filename. Google later changed it to ‘Octopus’. But today, the speculation has ended, as Google officially confirmed that the name of its new OS is indeed Android 8.0 Oreo.
Google is promoting Android 8.0 as the “open wonder, Smarter, faster, more powerful and sweeter than ever. The world’s favorite cookie is your new favorite Android release.”
Previously, the Google had used KitKat for Android 4.4 in 2013.
