Google Assistant for Android 6.0 devices and Nougat devices is coming

Google Assistant for Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Nougat devices is coming. Previously, the AI was exclusive to the Google Pixels smartphone only.

Google Assistant has been available through Allo on all Android 4.1+ phones, announced for all Android TV 6.0+ devices, and was shortly enabled by mistake through an alpha version of the Google app on non-Pixel phones. Now, the new LG G6 smartphone also have the Assistant.

The company officially announced that the Google Assistant will start rolling this week to Marshmallow and Nougat devices for English users in the US followed by Australia, Canada, and the UK, plus German speakers in Germany. More languages will be added later. The new Google’s AI will replace Google Search. You can launch it with long-press of the home button or the “OK Google” voice command.

If you have a smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat or Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you’ll get the update via Google Play Services.
