Peaks of Yore update 1.8.2a is now rolling out on PC (Steam). According to the official Peaks of Yore patch notes, the latest update 1.8.2a added quality of life improvements and gameplay optimizations.
Since the last patch, players are facing a number of problems with the game. Today’s Peaks of Yore patch 1.8.2a will fix a few of these issues.

Peaks of Yore Patch 1.8.2a Notes – November 17, 2024
Chalkbag
- Chalking while grounded will now chalk both hands.
Pinches
- Micro boost to chalk power on pinches
- UI now grays out when grabbing a normal hold while also grabbing a pinch.
Volumes
- Increased how quicky the pitch meter drains slightly.
- Grabbing a 2-handed volume with both hands will slow down the drain significantly.
- Added a small force boost upwards when you “touch down” on the volume from high up to halt your downwards momentum very slightly. Using chalk while touching down on the volume will increase the effect.
- Reduced the power of chalk slightly.
Pitch Meter
- Lowered the time it takes to regain hand usage after losing grip on a pitch-affected rock.
Map Updates
Great Bók Tree
- Few performance optimisations.
Castle of the Swan King
- Added a few holds along the new route to make the path clearer.
- Fixed a few vine collision issues.
- Fixed an issue with crows chasing you across the map.
Mhòr Druim
- Added a few holds on the platform where you need to perform a crampon jump to prevent you from getting underneath the platform.
Eljuns Folly
- Fixed some out of bounds locations.
- Added a few extra holds along the path to the collectible.
Towering Vísir
- Fixed some ice holds appearing bright in with Idol of Sundown active.
Visuals
- Darkened the ambient lighting on maps with the Idol of Sundown enabled.
Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug with postprocesesing effects (dithering, etc) getting applied after receiving items in the Alps cabin.
- Fixed a bug with some maps not loading after applying Idol modifiers.
- Fixed a bug with holds on Lighthouse and Almáttr Dam when using the Ice idol.
- Fixed an issue with Alps progress UI display carried over when switching between modes.
- Removed Free Solo stamps counting towards overall progress percentage.
- Potential fix for issues with not being able to place or teleport to routing flags.
- Other minor bugfixes.
