Google has announced Android Things OS developer preview for IoT devices

Google has announced Android Things OS developer preview for IoT devices. Android Things OS is Google’s Internet of Things competitor for Windows 10 IoT Core. The Project was previously known as Project Brillo and was announced last year at I/O 2015.

Google wants to create new experiences with connected devices with the help of tools such as Android Studio, the Android SDK, Google Play Services and the Google Cloud Platform. The Android Things Developer Preview will be updated to support updates, security fixes, and patches. Currently, Android Things OS supports Intel Edison, NXP Pico, Raspberry Pi 3, custom implementations of these boards and More.

Apart from Android Things OS Developer Preview, the company also announced updates to its Weave platform. With Weave, devices can communicate with Google Assistant and also connect to other cloud services effortlessly. Google is also merging Google Weave and Nest Weave in the near future, and developers can implement integration based on both systems once it happens.
